A Celebration of our "International Day" in June 2009.
In June 2009 we celebrated our very first 'International Day' at West Derby. The boys' lessons had an international or cultural theme - for example in PE, boys had a 'Mini-Olympics' with their team's flag painted on their faces. In Maths, boys did calculations in Russian and Chinese. Many boys also enjoyed poetry, music, dance and art workshops led by visiting artists. At the end of the day, some of the boys performed for parents, demonstrating the skills they had learnt on the day. Parents welcomed the opportunity to come into school to see their sons perform and the boys really enjoyed themselves learning new skills. There was also some international food-tasting for parents, which went down very well! There was a lot of the boys' work up on display, showing the projects they had been working on in the last 12 months and some boys did some powerpoint and some drama presentations. We had a special International lunch and a continental breakfast at morning break. The day was enjoyed by all as you can see in the photos here.
In September 2009 we were awarded the International School Award.
