On the 21st May 2009, 43 excited Year 8 pupils (and 7 excited staff) left West Derby for an 18 hour journey to Correze in the south of France. For the fifth year the school embarked on an outdoor adventure holiday which was to include mountain biking, abseiling, rock climbing, gorge walking, orienteering, kayaking, sailing, canoeing, archery, rifle shooting, body boarding and a very muddy (but fun) Rambo ramble!!
The lads were in high spirits all week receiving praise for all staff and adults who worked with them. There were many highlights on the trip, too many to mention, but the overriding theme was that of team work and togetherness.
The lads were a credit to themselves, their parent/guardian and in particular the school. It was the ‘best’ trip to France we have had and that was solely down to the pupils. There are many a funny photo and video (which I am sure will come back to haunt them on their Year 11 leavers assembly ……… sorry boys!) which shows how much the trip was enjoyed by all.
As party leader and Head of Year 8, it made me very proud to hear the comments lavished on the group but I must support the praise and say it was thoroughly deserved.
There is no greater feeling than coming back from the holiday and seeing new friendships forged and relationships between pupils and staff grow stronger. I am sure I speak for all the staff when I conclude with offering my congratulations and thanks to a group of 43 fantastic pupils who made a very tiring week such an enjoyable experience.
Merci beaucoup pour les vacances fantastiques et á l’annee prochaine!
Au revoir.

Our way to correze
This was the only down side about the holiday, the 22hr journey however it did go quick. There were a few service station stops where pictures were took of us all and we also got breakfast. Early in the morning in France there were chocolate chaud and croissants you could buy and then eat.
What we enjoyed
We mostly enjoyed getting involved with the activities that were kindly arranged for everyone that came. We also enjoyed the facilities based around club Correze for the students and teachers that we all got on well with. Everybody had a chance to go to the town any buy presents for family and friends there were also variety of shop which you could buy food and drinks.
Staff in club correze
Staff in club Correze made our holiday exiting for all of us they were there for us, they were useful if we needed help with anything. They got involved with the sport activities which the pupils and teachers were happy with.
Breakfast, Dinner, Tea
We woke up at eight in the morning after a good nights sleep to have breakfast everyday it was a French breakfast which included croissants, coffee, tea and hot chocolate to wake us up for a good evening of activities. We mostly had two activities and once we have finished one of them we had lunch it was a rock solid baguette with an option of ham, cheese, tuna and meat paste.
Driver
The driver was a delight he got involved in volleyball and football he was great to hang out with he sent an email to Mrs Rannard about how well behaved we all were and it was a delight to drive you there and half way back.
