HEALTHY SCHOOLS - PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

CYCLE TO SCHOOL

We have bicycle racks at West Derby, so why not cycle to school?
Cycling is a great way to keep fit, and it takes more cars off our already
congested road (less polution in our lungs!)

A safe route for some could be the city's cycle path (an old railway known
locally as "The Rallar").

Exit by Alder Road (by the Fire Station on Queens Drive) for Quarry wing, or exit on Mill Lane (by the Jolly Miller Pub) for Bankfield or Quarry.

Here is a map of the cycle path (500k pdf)

EXERCISE

www.bhf.org.uk/yheart explains why exercise, a good diet and not smoking is good for 'your ticker'.

Love him or hate him, the David Beckham's School Zone site is excellent at promoting health and learning through football.
You need to register to use the site (but it's free)

www.sportengland.org promotes sport and healthy activities across the country and has some good ideas and advice on it.
